About Me

Rachel Kristensen

Hi, I’m Rachel.

I’m a Canadian travel writer and international tour leader who is outdoors obsessed and eternally curious.

Welcome to my collection of stories of adventures and misadventures from around the world.

I hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by.

Meander the World Rachel Kristensen

Ever since I was a young girl watching “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?”, I dreamt of going places near and far.

I have spent 10 years spending almost every penny I have earned on travelling to over 80 countries.

I  started this blog in 2012 after I nearly died on the back of a motorcycle in India.

It made me think about the adventures and stories I had collected in my memory, and wonder if I would remember them in the years to come. It also confirmed to me the notion that life is short. I knew I was going to continue taking adventures, and knew I would always seek to experience what the world has to offer. Why not share that with the world?

I started this blog because I like to tell stories and on the road you collect many.

My goal was to inspire.

Whether it is a weekend away or a lifetime on the road, I hope you find an idea for an adventure of your own.

Who am I?

Rachel, Rach or Rae. Your choice.

What do I love?

Sunsets, tea, hiking, history, the fella in my photos, adrenaline,  people watching, nachos, random facts about the world and winning at anything. Most of all, I like trying something or going somewhere new.

Where can you find me?

Anywhere and everywhere. I’m on the move.  I’ll either be in a coffee shop, perched on a mountain, basking in the sun or that girl in the rear view mirror with road rage.

When will I quit?

Probably never.

How did I get here?

Planes, trains, 2 wheel to 18 wheeled auto mobiles, boats, bikes, an ox cart, a dog sled, elephants, a camel, tuktuks, rickshaws, but more often then not, my own 2 feet.

This is my life, as I re-remember it, and as it happens.
